Show Your Hair And Skin Some Love

Hi everyone !!!! Omgosh I am so happy to be posting and sharing with you my winter hair and  skin care routine❄️💕☃️ I took a break from social media over the holiday so I could fully enjoy my time with my family but i am so excited to be writing and sharing with you beauties again.

Winter time can be super rough on our skin and hair. The cold weather tends to dry us out and is definitely not a fun time ! Here are some products that I’ve been loving and have been saving me from the harsh winter vibezzzzz.

I started off cleansing my face with the Philosophy Purity One Step Facial Cleanser. I absolutely love this product guys ! It washes away makeup, cleans out pores, and conditions the skin. I would highly highly recommend this if you are in need of a new cleanser💕

Next up I used some of my exfoliating scrub that was given to me ! This has all kinds of amazing essential oils and natural oils in it and just really cleans out my pores and scrubs away any left over makeup or dirt on my skin. You can find these products on Etsy or go to Lush and grab some ingredients to make them yourself !

After the scrub I decided to apply my new Philosophy Purity Facial Mask. This is a deep cleaning mask that uses sea salt to naturally purify and detoxify the skin. It says on the bottle that marine extracts and vitamin E help skin feel soft and smooth. I can say I truly loved this product and it really made my skin look amazing and feel super hydrated and soft.

Next up I wanted to do a sheet mask ! I haven’t done one in so long and since it’s my day off and I am trying to relax I thought why not. This one is the Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask. I absolutely LOVE this sheet mask guys and it’s seriously so affordable. Collagen and Egg Yolk Extract are supposed to firm up your skin and leave it super hydrated. Obsessssed. Thank you again Jaclyn Hill for the inspo on this one👌🏻

After I was done cleansing and exfoliating I reached for my Philosophy Renewed Hope In a Jar refreshing and refining moisturizer. I put this all over my face and then added a touch of Marula Oil to really hydrate and smooth my skin.

I cannot tell you how much my face loves me right now. I feel so clean and smooth and hydrated it’s not even funny. This is seriously the best time of the year to hone in and really really take care of your skin. A few other products I used today on my skin and hair are below as well!

I’ve talked about Project Beauty HairGurt before and I will say it again….this product slayssssss. It smells like a strawberry banana smoothie from the islands and leaves my hair looking unbelievably healthy and beautiful. It’s made with probiotics and super foods like quinoa to leave your hair hydrated and rich and amazing. Check. This. Out.

Last but not least is a new lotion I picked up recently that I cannot live without right now ! This is an Ulta Beauty body lotion and let me tell you it is perfection. It’s made with Vitamin E and Shea butter so the formula is super thick and creamy and hydrates the crap out of my skin without leaving it oily. These lotions are super affordable and come in all kinds of amazing scents. Ulta love forever 💕

That’s all I got for you babes tonight but I am back and I cannotttttt wait to post more throughout the week. I have a Sephora haul coming up that I am so excited to share so stay tuned and as always I hope this gave you some skin and hair inspo !! Love you all very much and I hope you have a fabulous night

Holidays Got You Feeling Rushed?

Hi my loves! The holidays can be unbelievably stressful and have us running around like crazy people!! Who has time for a workout between work, holiday parties, friends, family, holiday shopping, wrapping, baking….you get the point! The fact is…everyone has 20 minutes of their day to devote to their health!
One of my FAVORITE quotes maybe ever is…

“We all have the same hours in the day as Beyoncé”

And let me tell you….that girl slays.

And so can you!!

Find a space that suits you and some equipment. Either at the gym with weights or even modify this at home with body weight exercises.

Put 20 mins on a timer

Pick two exercises to alternate. Today I chose push-ups  and Bosu Ball Crunches with 15 lb Dumbbell

Alternate these two exercises with some form of cardio in between until the timer goes off. The circuit I chose was as follows:

5 push-ups

30 jumping jacks

8 crunches on bosu ball with dumbbell

30 jumping jacks

5 push-ups

30 jumping jacks

8 crunches on bosu ball with dumbbell

By the time I was finished my heart rate was up, I had a major sweat going on, and I had burned a ton of calories. Circuit training is honestly the best ! It combines cardio and weight training so you can skip boring 40 minute sessions on the treadmill and instead blast out a 20 minute circuit that will give you tremendous results.

Next time you don’t have time in your day for a workout remember two things:

  1. Beyoncé has time
  2. It only takes 20 minutes

Thank you beauties for reading and I hope this workout gave you some inspo to get up and get moving and burn off some of those cookies we all know you’ve been shoving in your face (because I know I have)

Santa made me do it

Hi beauties! For todays post I thought it would be fun to answer some holiday inspired questions I’ve seen floating around my feed. This is something different that I haven’t done before so I thought it would be cool to give it a go.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to keep it going!

1. What is your favourite Christmas film?

Such a no brainer on this one. ELF! This is hands down the best christmas movie I’ve ever seen. I watch this movie every year with my family and it honestly never gets old. love love love.

2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Yes! But not completely white. Just a light snow, maybe 2 or 3 inches but it still made it feel that much more special. I absolutely love when it snows near Christmas, makes it feel like a fairytale.

3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

My dad and step-mom throw a big party on Christmas Eve and we open presents, drink wine, eat, spend time together, drink more wine, eat more, and drink more wine. Its lovely. Then Christmas morning I head over to my Grandmothers and spend the morning with my mom’s side. Love it. Then later in the afternoon my boyfriend and I pop over at his families house and relax and eat some more. perfection.

4. What is your favourite Christmas song?

omgosh this is a hard one. But I could honestly listen to all I want for Christmas is you covered by Queen Mariah Carey all year long. ughhhh slays my heart. I was visiting my aunt in Africa one year over Christmas and I was in the airport and this song came on. I literally missed my boyfriend so fricken much because I was away for 3 weeks and I most definitely shed a tear or two listening to it. loveeeeeeeeeee

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Yup!!! I love that tradition.

6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Here goes nothing. Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, Rudolph. BOOOOM. literally sang Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer in my head just then hahah

7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

All of them honestly. I love spending time with my family over Christmas.

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Okay this year I started decorating so early. I decorated my office at work, and the inside of my house in mid November. cray. But I dont honestly think we will do a tree this year which is so sad. We have a cat and a puppy and it just doesnt end well.

9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

Grandmas Christmas cookies. TO DIE FOR.

10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I love love love giving gifts. It is so rewarding to watch someone open up something you know they are going to love. nothing better.

11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

Such a hard one. Honestly I cant really pick one out. Every year has been a dream.

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Okay this year my boyfriend and I are going to Mexico the second week in December so MEXICO! Merry Christmas to us. =]

13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

Such a fail. such. a. fail. Going to try harder this year but no promises.

14. Most memorable Holiday moment?

I think it was when I was little I wanted this baby doll so fricken badly. I thought about it every single night before I went to sleep. I literally begged my parents for it every day. I woke up christmas morning hoping and praying that I would get it and sure enough the first gift I opened was Baby So Real. I literally cried my eyes out and blabbered about how much I loved it for like 15 minutes. My dad got all of this on video tape. He swears hes going to play it at my wedding….

15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

I think my older brother ruined it, thanks jerk.

16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I try not too because I think if I want something bad enough I shouldn’t wait until the New Year to go after it. Always going after my goals!

17. What makes the holidays special for you?

My family, hands down.

This was so fun to do! I was a little slow at work today so taking ten minutes out of my day to write this really made me feel wonderul. I love the holiday so so much and being able to share my thoughts and feelings about them with you guys makes my heart happy. Please feel free to take time to do this for yourself and as always leave me your thoughts in the comment section because i love hearing them.

Happy December beautiful people

hey there honey

Today my post is going to center around meal prep. I chose to use my honey balsamic chicken thighs with mountain red blend rice and roasted sweet potatoes and beets. This is an awesome meal for this time of year! I love roasted root veggies as the weather gets chilly.

If you’re interested in seeing how I put this meal together please keep reading:

I bought this mountain red blend rice at wegmans and it’s absolutely delicious. I cook it on the stove and it requires minimal cook time which is nice. It’s a blend of red heirloom rices, black quinoa, and green lentils. You know how I love my complex carbs.

Next I focused on the roasting. I went with sweet potatoes and beets this time. Both of which are awesome choices. Beets have so many health benefits and sweet potato is another one of those complex carbs to add to your diet ! I like to put these on a sheet pan with olive oil and sea salt for almost an hour. Check on them to see how they’re doing and move them around periodically. You can also roast carrots, Brussel sprouts, shallots, mushrooms, parsnip, etc.

Next is the chicken. I keep my product in the freezer so I pulled these out yesterday and put them in the fridge to defrost. When I woke up this morning I made my marinade. I could have googled a recipe but instead I just went for it. Got a big mixing bowl out and threw in some lovely aged balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey, garlic, and sea salt. Let my chicken marinade in this in the fridge for about 3 hours. When I thought it looked good I popped them in the oven at 350 for 35 minutes and they were exactly where I wanted them to be.

After all my food was cooked and ready to go I popped it into four separate containers and boom! My meals until Sunday.

A lot of people ask me if I get sick of the same thing all week but honestly I really don’t mind. That being said you have to do what’s best for you and it might mean prepping more frequently for more variety. But all in all meal prep is a great way to cut down on time spent in the kitchen, reduce your portion sizes, and keep you focused on what you should be fueling your body with.

As always thank you for reading and please don’t forget to follow me so you can keep up with all the craziness that happens on my page😘

society is turning me into a sugar cube

ahhhhh the holidays are here! This means there are endless reasons to overeat, overindulge, and over-do-it.

Basically starting on Halloween day the flood gates open and the huge wave of candies, pies, cookies, wine, and other quite delicious and highly fattening foods wash over you like a shower from the gods. I mean you are allowed to treat yourself right? Over and over…and over…and over again until you feel as though it’s no longer a treat but a string of days of constant bloat.

Here’s the thing though: everyone no matter who you are deserves to enjoy their lives and indulge in things that set their souls on fire. But I’d like to share some tips with you to help put the brakes on and make that candy train come to a screeching hault.

  1. Load up on complex carbs. These not only reduce inflammation and support digestion but they keep you fuller longer ! Try to replace rice with quinoa or farro. Eat a banana in the morning before work. Load up on leafy greens in your salad or cooked as a side with your salmon.
  2. Incorporate foods high in good fat! These foods actually promote weight loss. What!? These include avocados, fatty fish, almonds, and extra virgin olive oil.
  3. Water, water, and more water. I shoot for 140 ounces of water a day. The more hydrated I am, the less hungry I feel.
  4. Curb your cravings for sweets by substituting healthier choices. Organic peanut butter on a rice cake is my go to. Or maybe I’ll munch on some cocoa covered almonds for the chocolate craving.
  5. Lastly, let yourself cheat every now and then!!! Have 1 piece of pie a week instead of 9 and when grandma offers you Christmas cookies gladly accept 🙂

Happy holidays you nutritious babes
